The meteorological office in Srinagar has issued a crucial advisory in anticipation of heavy snowfall across parts of Jammu and Kashmir. From February 29 to March 03, an active Western disturbance is expected to impact the region. The advisory warns of widespread moderate rain and snow, with peak activity on March 2. The Pirpanjal Range in Jammu division and the middle to higher reaches of Kashmir Division (including Anantnag-Pahalgam, Kulgam, Sinthan Pass, Shupiyan-Pir Ki Gali, Sonamarg-Zojila, Bandipora-Razdan Pass, Gulmarg, and Kupwara-Sachna Pass) are likely to experience heavy to very heavy precipitation. Surface and air transport, including the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, may be disrupted. Residents in snow-bound areas are urged to avoid avalanche-prone regions, and farmers are advised to suspend farm operations during the first week of March1.
