Srinagar (KS): Experience a calm period post rains and snowfall until the 26th, with tranquil weather prevailing. However, be ready for another bout of wet conditions starting from the 27th, according to the Meteorological Department's forecast on Wednesday.
A MeT official informed the news agency Kashmir Scroll that widespread light to moderate rain/snow occurred in many places, with heavy precipitation in a few locations in the past 24 hours.
Today, he noted the possibility of intermittent light rain/snow in isolated places, emphasizing that no significant weather activity is expected until February 26th.
Looking forward, he indicated a forecast of light to moderate rain/snow at scattered to fairly widespread places from Feb 27 to 29.
Given the heavy to very heavy snowfall in some middle & higher reaches over the last 2 days, he advised travelers/tourists to follow admin/traffic police advisories.
Furthermore, he urged the general public in hilly areas to refrain from venturing into avalanche-prone and slopy areas, stressing the importance of heeding avalanche warnings and advisories.
